Today, I'd like to introduce a popular riders jacket from JELADO.

 We will be introducing the Rebel Jacket.

First, let's talk about the vintage piece it's based on.

It's a 1950s "Wind Ward" brand

※① 2-Star riders jacket.

 

 

※① "Two-star" refers to jackets with two star-shaped studs on the epaulets,

while "one-star" refers to those with only one.

 

 

One of America's three major store brands,

※② "Montgomery Ward"

The private brand of Montgomery Ward is

"Wind Ward" was a brand that mainly dealt in outerwear and leather items.

 

 

 

※②Montgomery Ward began in Chicago in 1872.

It went out of business in 2000. It was a store brand that lasted over a century.

Even today, it's a very popular store brand in the vintage industry.

 

 

JELADO's Rebel Jacket, based on Wind Ward,

has had its shoulder epaulets removed to make it a simpler riders jacket.

 

The original pattern was unflattering, so we created a new pattern to fit modern styles.

This has been a long-standing classic riders jacket for JELADO.

 

The leather is approximately 1.6mm thick horsehide.

※③It undergoes a combination tanning process (chrome & tannin).

 

※③What is combination tanning?

It's a tanning method that "achieves a more natural finish in less time,"

truly getting the best of both worlds.

 

JELADO's "Rebel Jacket" is first chrome-tanned, then tannin-tanned.

When combining chrome and tannin tanning, the leather has a richer texture than leather that is only chrome-tanned.

By performing the tannin tanning in a shorter time than it would normally take,

we've prepared a leather that offers a moderate sense of solidity and allows you to enjoy the aging process with repeated wear.

 

 

The base is dyed light brown, then dyed black by a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo using a "hill dyeing" method, resulting in tea-core leather.

 

This is then colored with a semi-aniline finish, mixing pigment and dye in equal parts.

 

It has a softness that 100% pigment doesn't, and as mentioned above,

with repeated wear, the tea-core leather base will subtly show through.

 

And for the lining, we use cupra.

It's smooth when putting on and taking off, causing no stress,

making it a highly valued detail.

 

Mr. Minamikawa, a familiar face at JELADO,

wore this Rebel Jacket

quite hard.

 

 

The wearing period is probably around half a year.

 

Looking at the overall image, the ambiance from the aging process is incredible, isn't it?

 

Since he rides a motorcycle regularly,

the arm wrinkles, in particular, feel very authentic.

 

The brown undertones showing through create an irresistible atmosphere.

 

The appearance of brown accents further enhances the coolness of this jacket.

 

This is the back of the neck, shoulders, and arms.

Everywhere you look, the texture is excellent and irresistible.

 

The area near the hem on the back. The grain is simply irresistible.

It's incredibly cool.

 

By simply using it often, the leather will change its appearance

to match the wearer, so you can truly enjoy the aging process.
