Today, I'd like to introduce a newly arrived product.

JELADO Champs 【AB82251】

 

 

 

This is the fourth time for Champs.

I own two of these sweatshirts, and as a sweatshirt enthusiast,

I highly recommend this product to everyone.

 

 

 

 

Have you noticed?

The sleeves of this sweatshirt are curved.

 

What you usually see is the

"straight pattern."

This refers to set-in sleeves or

raglan sleeves.

 

The "curved pattern"...

This is called a freedom sleeve, and it appeared in the late 1930s.

 

With straight sleeves,

there is resistance when you raise your arm.

However, with freedom sleeves,

due to the wider range of motion, they were popular as sweatshirts that could improve performance,

but due to their inefficiency in production, this detail disappeared in the 1950s.

Champs, characterized by its textured brushed lining, features a soft fabric texture

because it undergoes a pre-brushing finish before dyeing, which involves extra effort in brushing.

In this blog post,

I will also include some stories about vintage items, so please read until the end, even though it will be long.

 

Pre-orders have begun for

Age of Longing 407EXX, which, as you may already know, is based on the 40s LEVI'S 506XX.

The history of the 1st model is long; according to the materials I have,

the 506XX existed in 1904, so based on these materials, it is a model that has existed for 120 years.

 

On July 1, 1937, the 506XX was given its first red tab, a detail that is now standard, thanks to Chris Lucia's idea.

 

And as time went on, the Second World War came...

 

During this era, when material control made changes in details unavoidable,

LEVI'S also faced this problem.

 

The previous 5-button closure was changed to 4 buttons,

and instead of buttons with the company name, laurel buttons were used.

And the model with the chest pocket flap removed is

"LEVI'S S506XX."

This is the very popular "War Model,"

which JELADO released as a leather jacket

 

 

under the name "44 Leather Jacket."

*This time, I will omit detailed information.

 

And after the war, with the lifting of material controls,

LEVI'S was in the process of returning to its original details when a new problem arose.

 

There was a large quantity of fabric that had been used for the war model

still left at the factory.

Although cost considerations likely played a role,

they entered a transitional period where this fabric was used up without being discarded,

and then new denim was introduced.

 

JELADO's Age of Longing 407EXX focuses on

LEVI'S 506XX from this transitional period,

 

 

we use a deeply indigo-dyed denim.

It is a textured fabric with strong nep and slub variations.

 

 

Through repeated wear, it will age and develop a random vertical fading, like rain streaks.

 

The 1st type 407EXX, with its 15oz thickness and deep indigo, features the following details:

 

・Red tab is a single-sided tab

 

・Narrow waistband (compared to 406XX)

・Pinch-back cinch buckle

・15oz

 

On the back above the waistband, there is a cinch buckle,

which is used to adjust the size.

The 406XX is a 2nd type jacket with a white tag, featuring a natural blue color that is familiar to everyone, and excellent fabric softness and comfort.

 

The differences from the 407EXX I introduced earlier are:

 

・Two front pockets

・Red tab is a double-sided tab

 

・Thick waistband

・Adjuster buttons on the sides

・14 oz

 

The adjuster buttons on the waistband allow for size adjustment.

 

 

Today, in the blog, I introduced the difference between the 407EXX, which focuses on the transition period from wartime to 1947, until LEVI'S announced new denim, and the 406XX, which focuses on 1950s XX fabric and is currently available in stores.
