Today I would like to introduce a classic shirt to everyone.

 

 

 

JELADO Smoker Shirt Indigo Chambray【JP94112】

The Smoker Shirt, which you are all familiar with.

It's a long-selling and popular item at Jelado,

but I'd like to introduce the charm of this shirt with my own commentary.

 

This shirt is based on a work shirt from the BIG YANK brand of the 1930s to 1940s.

 

The most important point of this shirt is undoubtedly the front pockets.

These asymmetrical pockets are called "gacha pockets," and they captivate vintage lovers.

 

 

The vertical pocket on the right is for pens,

and what about the pocket on the left?

 

This pocket is a cigarette pocket, and in those days, cigarettes were put in it.

 

This pocket actually has a special feature: while the vertical pocket is sewn to the body, the cigarette pocket is...

 

It's bag-stitched to prevent cigarettes from getting damp from sweat, etc.

 

And for the stitching,

 

 

 

First, the triple-needle stitching. Although double-needle stitching would normally be sufficient and durable enough for wear, people back then probably adopted triple-needle stitching for reinforcement.

When washed, the fabric tightens, but it also develops fading, so you can really enjoy the aging process.

 

 

This is something I actually get asked in stores: "Is that part of the design?" They're talking about the unhemmed overlock stitching. Yes, it IS part of the design; leaving it unfinished enhances the vintage feel.

 

And the gusset has selvedge. This is a triangular patch attached to prevent tearing where the front and back panels are sewn together.

 

The chambray material is 100% cotton.

As I mentioned above, repeated wear and washing will tighten the fabric and create fading, but it will also cause color loss. This color loss allows you to enjoy a different atmosphere than when you first bought it, so I highly recommend it.

Comparing it with the 301XX, as seen in the image, there is a difference of 4-4.5 cm in the waist (flat measurement), which means about two inches.
