～JELADO Classic Smoker Shirt～

Since it's September, I'll be introducing some long-sleeved items.

 

 

 

 

 

 

JELADO Smoker Shirt Indigo Chambray【JP94112】

The Smoker Shirt is based on a work shirt

that was sold by the workwear brand 'BIGYANK'

in the 1930s and 40s.

 

A particularly noteworthy feature of this shirt

is the "Gacha Pocket."

 

In vintage terminology, pockets that are

asymmetrical are called "Gacha Pockets."

It is said that the origin of the Gacha Pocket is actually

'BIGYANK,' which this shirt is based on.

 

※BIGYANK filed its trademark in 1929,

and the official name for these asymmetrical pockets

is 'Convenient Pocket.'

 

The right pocket is a vertically long pocket

with a pen holder.

 

And the small left pocket

is called a 'cigarette pocket.'

The purpose of this pocket was

to hold cigarettes.

It's a detail also used in the vintage piece

this item is based on.

 

This detail is the origin of the name 'Smoker Shirt',

a long-selling JELADO classic, so please remember it.

 

The shoulders, sleeves, and sides from the armpits to the hem

are sewn with a triple-needle stitch.

 

※The advantages of using a triple-needle stitch are:

・Primarily for reinforcement.

・When washed and machine-dried,

the fabric tightens, creating a unique texture (atari).

 

In other words, not only is it durable,

but repeated wear will enhance its vintage

appearance, so it's highly recommended.

 

This is the gusset at the hem.

The front and back panels are sewn together,

but a triangular piece of fabric is used for reinforcement to prevent tearing.

This triangular fabric is what we call a gusset.

 

This time, I paired the Smoker Shirt with

the Black Tag Age of Longing 301EXX.

This is a classic American casual style.

Many customers at JELADO WEST have purchased

the Black Tag 301EXX.

and conducting scientific analysis.

 

From raw cotton, yarn, weaving, to dyeing,

the ultimate chino cloth with attention to every detail...

That is JELADO's Last Resort Chino Cloth.

We also paid close attention to the details.

 

The offset center loop and

 

The 2mm wide double-welt back pockets

seen in vintage pieces are reproduced.

 

Instead of the usual pocket lining, we use

a separate chino fabric, just like vintage pieces.

 

The stitching matches the original pitch,

creating the authentic feel of 41Khaki.

 

The 41Khaki has a deep rise and a relaxed fit.

 

At JELADO WEST, we have the previous model of 41Khaki

available as a sample for trying on.
