This time we will introduce Cowichan.

This is JELADO's first hand-knitted Cowichan sweater.

 

*What does "Cowichan" mean in "Cowichan sweater"?

The word derives from the traditional cold weather clothing worn by the Cowichan people, an indigenous people who lived on Vancouver Island in Canada.

Sweaters and cardigans made from thick, oily wool are

Cowichan jackets are excellent at repelling water and keeping you warm, and have a unique texture and weight.

Geometric patterns and the Thunderbird, the sacred bird of the Cowichan people,

These hand-knitted items are characterized by their animal patterns such as reindeer.

 

 

This product is a collaboration item with GIM.

The "Glass bag" was produced using GIM's production background.

It is based on the Cowichan knitwear of the 1960s.

 

Speaking of Cowichan knitwear from the 1960s,

Reindeer, classic cars, bowling, snow patterns

And so on.

 

Jelado's Glass bag is a rare item that is rarely seen even in vintage items.

It features a bison pattern.

 

 

While reproducing the bison pattern, the roughness of the vintage style,

In order to bring out the atmosphere that can only be expressed through hand knitting,

Of the 8 strands of yarn, half (4 strands) are recycled yarns.

By using them randomly, you can create unevenness in color and thickness.

It creates a vintage feel.

*About recycled yarn.

The wool discarded from spinning mills is collected and recycled to make yarn.

The yarn is a blend of 97% recycled wool and 3% polyester, and the base is hand-knitted jersey knit.

However, we mixed in garter stitch in some parts to create the desired atmosphere.

 

This is just my personal opinion, but
