This time, I would like to reintroduce the boots that have been receiving a lot of inquiries lately: The 2 Monkeys Sportif.

The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf【TM72924】

 The Sportif was designed with inspiration from boots worn for hunting and outdoor activities in France around the 1920s to 1930s.

It combines a European classical aesthetic with the moccasin-style toe that became popular in America for hunting shoes around the same period, successfully merging European classical atmosphere with American ruggedness. As such, it pairs exceptionally well with classic American casual items like jeans and chinos, adding a distinctive touch to your everyday American casual style.

To achieve this form, a very special manufacturing method is employed. It combines two different constructions: the front third of the shoe uses a Goodyear welt, while the back two-thirds uses a Blake stitch. This unique method allows for the creation of a tightly-cinched waist silhouette, reminiscent of old European boots.

Unlike the Goodyear welt, which packs a lot of cork into the sole, the Blake stitch allows for a thinner and lighter sole. This results in a very flexible sole, making the boots comfortable to walk in right from the start.

The curve from the ankle to the heel is also exceptionally beautiful. By constricting the ankle area, the foot is held securely.

The upper uses extremely fine, light, and soft French calf leather (DuPuy).

This combination of calf leather and construction results in a remarkably light and supple finish for the Sportif. It's a masterpiece that we highly recommend even to those who typically avoid boots due to a dislike for stiff and heavy footwear.

As can be inferred from the cross-section color of the moccasin part, this is a very rare brown core specification for calf leather typically used in dress shoes. (By the way, the moccasin part is hand-stitched.)

The meticulous craftsmanship involves sourcing brown French calf leather and then dyeing the surface black at a factory in Asakusa. As you wear them, your unique habits and wrinkles will be etched into the leather, revealing the brown core beneath. This makes them a coveted item for those who appreciate aged effects.
