These shorts reproduce the herringbone fabric used by the USMC (Marine Corps) in the 1940s,

It's a 100% cotton twisted yarn twill fabric.
The warp uses sulfur-dyed twisted yarn, and the weft uses
sulfur-dyed black yarn, creating a thick and stiff fabric.
Since it's 100% cotton, it will age beautifully as you wear it,
