So, this time, we'd like to introduce a sweatshirt that aims to be a perfect reproduction of the 90s Champion Reverse Weave.

With the cooperation of Riding High, a leading Japanese cut-and-sew/sweatshirt brand, we have succeeded in recreating that 90s vibe.

Here's a brief review of Reverse Weave.

Champion's Reverse Weave, born in 1934, was loved as cutting-edge sportswear and continued to be produced in the US until the 90s. In Japan, it dominated the used clothing market during the vintage boom of the 90s and continues to be loved and highly regarded to this day.

The reason Reverse Weave was excellent as sportswear was that it intentionally used traditional fabrics, which shrank significantly lengthwise when washed, in a horizontal direction, making it possible to wear them smartly even after repeated washes. Furthermore, by placing ribs on both sides, elasticity = mobility was enhanced, and horizontal shrinkage was also prevented.

Thus, Reverse Weave was sportswear infused with the cutting-edge wisdom of its time.

Its comfortable fit made it beloved by East Coast university students in America, and it became an object of aspiration for post-war Japanese youth who longed for American culture.

 Now, let's return to the Jelado x Riding High sweatshirts.

Starting with the raw cotton material, we use open-end yarn blended with American cotton, with 14/- (open-end yarn) for the face yarn, 20/- (right-twisted) for the middle yarn, and 10/- for the back yarn.

As a result of prioritizing reproducibility, we even went as far as modifying knitting machine parts and developing our own needles.

 

 

Furthermore, for the napping of the terry cloth, we adopted an American-style napping machine to reproduce the same texture as vintage items.

Additionally, to achieve the dry texture of 90s American-made sweatshirts, we degrease the fabric after knitting.

We have put a lot of effort into this season's sweatshirts, and there are three styles available in stores.

Shorts that seem to evoke the spirit of America.

All three styles are available in two colors: Green Apple and Grape. These are vivid colors that were highly valued in 90s vintage clothing stores.

While matching sets in the same color are recommended, mixing and matching colors for a "gacha" setup (random color combination) also looks quite cool.
