Good evening. This is Uemura from WEST.
On Wednesday, I wrote Part 1 of a blog post focusing on "70s Craft Leather."
Today, I will be writing Part 2.
Part 1 concluded with the question:
Why were such unique designs born?
So, I will start from there.
As I mentioned in Part 1, I'll reiterate for clarity:
Originally, "EASTWEST" was involved in "instrument making,"
so it was common for people in the music industry to be "customers."
In response to customer requests, they produced "stage costumes" in leather.
The 70s saw various cultures such as "rock" and "hippie" come and go.
Many of the costumes were one-of-a-kind, tailored to customer needs,
packed with the unique charm of craft leather.

Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones)
David Bowie
Elvis Presley
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
etc…
There are probably many famous musicians I don't know about and haven't introduced here.
If they ordered custom leather pieces, I imagine there would be a wide variety of craft leather styles.
④ Actually, at JELADO too...
We have released leather jackets
based on "70s craft leather."
This is "Smoke," made from kip leather.
Personally, the sun on the back of this model gives me a 70s vibe and a "hippie" feel.
"COUNTRY COMFORT" is made of buffalo leather.
It's a model also known as a "backpack."
It has an impact, and the "freedom" of its design, which is rarely seen in modern leather jackets,
is where I feel the appeal of craft leather.
ADLER is also reproduced in buffalo leather.
This model has a lot of pockets, I believe there were 13 of them.
It's a design where the freedom inherent in "70s craft leather," which disregards theory,
is its charm.
In addition, we have released "Seven Arrows" and "Papaya," etc.
When you think about it, there's something inextricably linked between "JELADO x 70s EASTWEST."
And President Goto loves leather, too (lol).
⑤ Winchester
Among JELADO products, this model in particular
is released with different leathers, and it will also appear in 2024AW.

Mr. Kakinuki, a staff member at the Ebisu store, wore the Winchester.
so I asked him to wear it this time.
The Winchester has a tight silhouette.
His ability to effortlessly pull off this tight silhouette shows his excellent style,
but for this jacket, I recommend keeping the innerwear and pants simple, just like he does,
rather than making them too busy.
Since it's originally based on "70s craft leather,"
it's a leather jacket with a strong presence.
I believe that the best way to coordinate it is to keep the other items simple,
which allows the Winchester to truly "shine."
For the innerwear, I chose JELADO's classic autumn/winter innerwear,

the split-back models, specifically those from size 46 and up,
have seen their prices skyrocket even further, reaching multi-million yen figures at vintage shops.
