We have received a new shipment of sweatshirts that are perfect for this time of year with drastic temperature changes. They can be used as an inner layer or worn on their own.

JELADO 6th Man 【AB11213】

We have created a sweatshirt with cut-off 7/10 sleeves, sometimes seen on vintage pieces, using a rare loopwheel knitting machine.

In the 1960s, the V-gusset detail gradually began to be omitted from sweatshirts, but the "6th Man" was designed to evoke the last V-gusset sweatshirt just before that change.

Furthermore, we adopted the double-needle stitching often seen in 1920s-30s sweatshirts.

The side parts of the fabric have been seam-finished.

The fabric used is 100% cotton loopwheel knit.

A loopwheel knitting machine is a very old-fashioned knitting machine that can only knit about 1 meter of fabric per hour.Modern, state-of-the-art knitting machines can knit 24 meters of fabric per hour, which shows how inefficient this machine is. However, because it can knit slowly without tensioning the yarn, it produces a sweatshirt that is both soft in texture and extremely durable.

It is said that the only loopwheel knitting machines still in operation in the world are those remaining in Wakayama Prefecture, plus a few others.

The "6th Man" uses such valuable machinery, and is woven with fine 30-count yarn on the front jersey side and thick 10-count yarn for the loops on the back side. This is what is known as "30/10 pile fabric."

This has made it possible to create a sweatshirt material that can be worn all year round, combining moderate thickness and softness.

～USMC M44 Monkey Pants～

Speaking of USMC M44 Monkey Pants,

these were pants issued to the Marine Corps,

and are a popular item in the vintage industry

under the nickname "Monkey Pants."

The origin of their name is as follows...

The large horizontal cargo pockets with flaps.

These large pockets were adopted for carrying a poncho,

and the flaps were added to prevent contents from falling out.

These pockets are called "Monkey Pants"

because they resemble a monkey's buttocks.

The production period of the M44

was actually very short, only "1 year and 3 months,"

from July 1944 to around October 1945.

Also, since they were issued to the "elite"

U.S. Marine Corps, the overall production volume was small,

so they are traded at quite high prices in the vintage market.

actually wore them was...

・Battle of Iwo Jima (Feb 19 - Mar 26, 1945)

・Around the Battle of Okinawa (Mar 26 - Sep 7, 1945)

Also, after World War II,

・Korean War (Jun 25, 1950 - Jul 27, 1953)

It seems they were worn extensively during these times.

JELADO's Monkey Pants

are made from herringbone material.

Furthermore, they are dyed with vat dyes.

And the buttons are donut buttons,

which also creates a vintage feel.

You can enjoy the aging process

by wearing them thoroughly.

Half-length coats with Native American patterns or

leather jackets... and even with

coveralls, they pair very well,

I also recommend pairing them with a chambray shirt.
