Today I will talk about "What are chinos?"

 

Some of you may have seen the YouTube video that was just released.

What is 41Khaki from "Last Resort Chino"? Let me introduce it to you.

I have written about this story once before on my blog, so

I think some of you may know,

However, what I want to talk about is chinos = "work pants"

Because there are some people who think that way.

 

 

①【The origin of the name Chinopan】

Pants made from a fabric called chino cloth are called "chinos."

 

②【What is Chino Cloth?】

*This is not our 41Khaki fabric.

 

It is a thick fabric woven in a dense twill pattern using single yarn.

The fabric is durable and resistant to washing.

 

3. Why are most chinos beige? 

The colour of the bottoms of the uniforms of the British Army deployed to India was

It all started with the fact that I was white.

Since white pants are too conspicuous on the battlefield, they were used as camouflage.

It was dyed using mulberry, coffee and curry powder.

The color of pants dyed in this way is called "khaki."

*In Hindi, khaki means "earth color."

 

The word "beige" that you all use often is

It's actually "khaki."

 

④【How chinos came to America】

 

During the Afghan War of 1878-81, the advantages of dyeing military uniforms khaki were recognized.

Khaki was officially adopted for the military during the Boer War of 1899-1902.

This prompted a large amount of khaki trousers to be woven in Manchester, England, and the surplus was exported from India to China.

(I think exports from India to China occurred even before khaki was officially adopted for military uniforms.)

 

The United States won the war against Spain in 1898.

They govern the Philippines, but as military uniforms for those stationed in the Philippines

We purchase chinos in bulk from China.

This resulted in the following: UK → India → China → Philippines → USA

It is believed that chinos crossed the border via this route.

 

⑤【Birth of M41】

America didn't really care about military uniforms.

As wars continued, there was a demand for functional military uniforms.

In 1941, the combat uniforms were made from California cotton dyed khaki.

The name is "US ARMY 41 Khaki".

 

The 41Khaki, which is designed for functionality, is a popular item in the current vintage market.

In recent years, I feel like the number of good sizes has decreased significantly.

These are rare chinos.

 

As you may know, chinos are not work pants.

Military pants are the answer.
