So, I will be writing about the appeal of this sweatshirt
in this blog post.
The most important detail of this sweatshirt
is undoubtedly the way the sleeves are attached.
Unlike set-in sleeves or raglan sleeves,
which are attached in a straight line,
the sleeves on this sweatshirt are attached in a curved (S-shaped) manner.
This method of attaching sleeves is called
a freedom sleeve.
The aim of this sleeve is, of course,
functionality.
I believe it's designed to prevent snagging when making large arm movements,
primarily for activities like throwing or serving.
A famous brand that often uses this freedom sleeve
is the tennis brand WILSON.
Having seen vintage sweatshirts for a long time myself,
when I think of freedom sleeves,
WILSON is the first brand that comes to mind, as I've seen many WILSON-made ones.
The freedom sleeve is
a rare detail as it was inefficient to produce
and became less common after the 1950s.
