~We are actually conducting an experiment at WEST~

 

This is our second blog post today.

Some of you who visit WEST may already know,

but we are actually conducting a small experiment at WEST.

 

 

What kind of fading will happen if we starch them?

So, we are currently almost sold out at both stores of:

Shu-san is wearing these normally,

while I, Uemura, am currently breaking in a pair of starched denim.

 

 

First, on the 3rd day after purchase (photo taken on 10/8)

 

 

 

 

 

As expected, starching gives the fabric a crisp feel,

so wrinkles form more easily than with regular wear.

Also, I do 150 squats a day while wearing these jeans.

 

 

 

And here it is on the 7th day... (photo taken on 10/12)

 

 

 

 

 

Because they're starched, creases form sharply and easily,

and they've formed in the areas I was aiming for, which is great.

However, by the 7th day, the crispness from the starch had faded,

and after wearing them as they were for a while, I felt that with this softness,

there probably wouldn't be much difference whether I starched them or not.

So, on the 10th day, I decided to starch them a second time.

 

 

 

This is what the denim looked like after the second thorough starching!

 

 

 

It might be a familiar sight,

but unlike the first time, the fabric became quite stiff.

 

 

 

Four days after that second starching...

Here's the denim two weeks into my experiment... (Photo taken on 10/19)

 

 

 

 

 

Personally, I was happy that the wrinkles

formed exactly where I intended.

Especially the wrinkles behind the knees are perfect.

 

 

And now, one month into the experiment. (Photo taken on 11/5)

 

 

 

 

Around the one-month mark, the color started to fade little by little.

Especially the back pockets are fading nicely.

I'm enjoying the unique fading of LAST RESORT.

However, it's only been a month.

I figured I needed to be tougher on them,

so from this point on, I started sleeping in my jeans.

 

 

Whether that had any effect, I'll leave it to you all to judge

from the images taken after two months of the experiment.

As you can see from the images, the fading has progressed quite a lot.

Since I've been wearing them constantly since I bought them,

I'm starting to understand how they might turn out.

 

I can't wait to see how they change from their current state

when three, then four months have passed since the start of the experiment.

I hope to show you all the progress of their aging at some point.

 

 

Now... two months have passed since they went on sale,

and I'm sure some customers are thinking about washing them.

Personally, I don't think you need to be too particular about

using special denim detergent or washing them inside out.

I think Attack detergent is perfectly fine (lol).

The only thing I'd ask you to be careful about is that since they're denim, don't wash them with other clothes...

Honestly, that's about it.
