Before talking about this model, there are two things I need to tell you.

First, in 1902, the founder, Levi Strauss, passed away.

Then, in 1906, the Great San Francisco Earthquake occurred...

Levi's suffered great damage, with its head office and factory burned down and collapsed, losing all records from before that time. However, Levi's reopened its business by relocating its factory within a few days of the earthquake.

The people of San Francisco felt reliability and strength from Levi's.

The jeans born out of this background are these...

1906 501XX

It's probably because they replaced their sewing machines when they relocated the factory and resumed operations, rather than using the overlock sewing machines they had before.

The lining of these jeans is finished very neatly.

It uses Amoskeag fabric, which has low colorfastness and fades significantly. Like the 1890 and 1901 501XX, it has rivet reinforcements, suspender buttons, and a cinch back. The five-pocket style, with two back pockets and a front coin pocket, which was introduced with the 1901 501XX, also remains the same.

The neatly finished lining is the only change in this model.

In the background, not only Levi's but also the city of San Francisco was hit by the Great San Francisco Earthquake, and everything was lost. However, Levi's actions became a symbol of regeneration for the reconstruction of San Francisco. I am truly impressed with Levi's, who maintained their commitment to the 501XX even in such circumstances.
