UFO Rivet

These are a pair of KIDS pants
that I own.

The purpose of these rivets is for reinforcement,
but if you ask why painter pants
have these particular rivets, I don't know.
On the contrary, if anyone knows, please enlighten me.
This is one of the details often seen
on painter pants from the 1940s-50s.
It's called a UFO rivet because it resembles a UFO.
It's also sometimes called a dome rivet,
but it refers to the same rivet,
so either is fine.
If you find this type of rivet at a vintage clothing store,
while I can't say with 100% certainty due to other details,
you can generally assume it's from around the 1940s to 50s.
