LEVI'S Red Tab and the Story of a Female Employee [WEST]
To talk about Levi's Vintage
the most popular detail,
the Red Tab, and one female employee.
I would like to write a BLOG about this.

Although this comparison focused on jackets,
the same applies to denim,
so I hope you find it helpful.
When talking about Levi's Red Tab,
are you aware that there is a 'woman who absolutely cannot be omitted'?
Her name is Chris Lucier.
She is a Levi's employee.
One day in 1936...
Chris Lucier's hobby was going to her favorite rodeo on her days off.
It was a typical day off...
watching her beloved rodeo.
Suddenly, she wondered at the venue:
"Who is wearing Levi's jeans?"
She then began an unofficial on-site investigation.
Immediately after starting her investigation, Chris Lucier's thoughts were probably something like this:
"There's no distinguishing mark for Levi's!"
So she thought:
"Let's create a distinctive mark that everyone can recognize as Levi's."
She then suggested to Milton, the factory manager at Levi's at the time:
"Let's attach a red tab to the side of the pocket to serve as a distinguishing mark."
And that is the Red Tab you all know.
Starting with shipments on September 1, 1936,
it was first attached to overalls,
and then to jackets from July 1, 1937.
Although we now take the red tab for granted,
this red tab changes with each era,
making it an important detail for identifying the age of the garment.
This time, I decided to write a blog about the birth of the red tab and one female employee.

The three items introduced this time are
denim made with LAST RESORT (our original fabric).
LAST RESORT fabric is created by cutting open a deadstock 50s LEVI'S 503BXX,
scientifically analyzing the fabric,
and then recreating the same vintage fabric from scratch.
As the first installment, we released 301XX, 312ZXX...
and though not introduced this time, 313XX
in our 2020AW collection.
Thanks to magazines, TV, YouTube, etc.,
the recognition of this denim is gradually increasing,
and on October 7, 2022,
we released the second installment, 301EXX.
This denim focuses on Levi's iconic 501...
specifically the early model of 1947, which is considered
the greatest masterpiece in the long history of the 501.
