It is said to date back to around 1890.
Around 1870, Levi's introduced triple pleats.

1890...This is the year that denim with the 501 lot number was first introduced.
Perhaps this jacket was produced around the same time as the 501?
It is said that the pocket position is double pleated.
It is attached to the left abdomen instead of the left chest.
A pocket that is lower than the chest level is called a down pocket.
It is likely that this is the earliest 506XX.

This is the Spring/Summer catalogue for 1904.
The number 506 is clearly written in the XX (double X) place.
That means that the 1904XX was definitely around in the spring and summer of 506.
It means it exists.
To begin with, I think it's a miracle that the catalogue was even found.
Do you know about the great San Francisco earthquake that occurred in 1906?
The earthquake caused the collapse and fire of the Levi's headquarters and factory.
Almost all materials dating back to before 1906 were also destroyed by fire.
This catalogue is made possible only by seeing the actual product.
It has now become a very valuable resource.

Why is this jacket from this era?

The big difference with this model is the position of the pockets and the fact that they have flaps...
However, the flap is not a square flap, perhaps due to the old days.
