【New Arrivals Styling!】Introducing The 2 Monkeys styling!

Good evening.

I'm Komori from JELADO Ebisu store.

Thank you for visiting us today.

This Sunday, November 19th, Mr. Minamikawa will be serving as a one-day store manager at WEST, so if you have time, please come visit WEST.

Today, I would like to introduce a new arrival coordination from The 2 Monkeys.

The 2 Monkeys 1735 Linen Coat [TM82440] Price: ¥59,400 (tax included)

It comes in two colors: black and charcoal.

The color shown in the photo is charcoal.

In the 18th century, European men apparently wore another sleeved jacket, similar to this coat, under their collarless, knee-length coats.

What could be called an "undergarment" became waist-length around 1730, and then lost its sleeves around 1760. Presumably, the word waistcoat was born around this time, and it became what we now call a vest.

During this period, some waistcoats, as "undergarments," were made of thin fabric and were unlined. The 1735 Linen Coat is based on these waistcoats from when they had sleeves, and is made of plain weave, slightly thin linen.

It's a jacket that can be worn over shirts or T-shirts.

It's a jacket that is very "The 2 Monkeys".

It can be used as an inner layer in winter and as an outer layer in spring, which is a great feature.

Next up is this item.
The 2 Monkeys 1760 Linen Vest [TM82541] Price: ¥48,400 (tax included)

This also comes in two colors: black and charcoal.

The worn color is charcoal.

The "1760 Linen Vest" is a set with the "1735 Linen Coat". It is based on the waistcoat that European men wore under their coats in the late 18th century. It was originally a collared, sleeved jacket that could be called an "undergarment," but it lost its sleeves and became what we call a vest today. The fact that vests are called "waistcoats" in England, which refers to a "coat" or jacket, and that the French word "veste" means jacket, comes from the history of this "undergarment" evolving throughout the 18th century from a long, sleeved garment to a shorter, sleeveless one. The 1760 Linen Vest, made of slightly thin linen, incorporates the style of the waistcoat from 1760, when the sleeves were removed from the original sleeved waistcoat, making it a comfortable vest that can be worn casually.

This vest can also be worn as an inner layer in winter, and as a set with the linen coat in spring.

Lastly, this one.

The 2 Monkeys Classic Oxford Shirt [TM83128] Price: ¥31,900 (tax included)

This comes in two colors: beige and off-white.
The color shown in the photo is beige.
Shirts, originally undergarments and pull-over styles for centuries, became front-opening in the 1870s. Around the same time, the tuxedo became popular as formal evening wear for the upper class, and the style of showing the shirt front through the deep V-zone of the jacket and vest began. It seems that it was around this time that shirts themselves, not just their collars and sleeves, shed their status as underwear.
It was an era when shirts became a part of fashion, and various shirts with different materials and details were created. It was a time when older details and new details were mixed. Such shirts must have existed around 1890-1910.
The Classic Oxford Shirts are made of cotton oxford material, based on shirts from that era. They feature a high-neck collar without a stand-up collar (which can be worn folded over), gathers at the neckline, and other details from older eras, mixed with modern constructions such as sleeves tapered from the shoulder to the cuffs at an angle, and a body that is relaxed yet follows the body. The result is a shirt that allows for a soft drape across the chest while maintaining a smart look.
This is a loose-fitting shirt that can be worn on its own.
This concludes our introduction to new arrival coordinating items from The 2 Monkeys.

We have items in stock, so please come and try on any items you're interested in at the Ebisu store.

We look forward to your visit.
