Today, I'd like to introduce the aging of The 2 Monkeys VAUDEVILLE【TM83933】 and The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf【TM72924】.

 

The 2 Monkeys VAUDEVILLE【TM83933】Price ¥110,000 (tax included)

 

 

 

 

Vaudeville was a popular form of entertainment in America before the spread of cinema. Around 1880-1920, when vaudeville was at its peak, many vaudeville theaters thrived in big cities like New York. The content was rich in variety, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, and more. Many early silent film stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and the Marx Brothers came from vaudeville, traveling from theater to theater. The 2 Monkeys "VAUDEVILLE" boots are inspired by vaudeville actors who were also traveling performers. (This is not a reproduction of a specific vintage boot.) They draw inspiration from American and French boots from around the 1910s. These are cap-toe external blucher boots with a high toe, also known as a bulldog toe, and a quarter made by sewing together separate upper and lower parts. We combined our original last with a slightly oblique toe, a small cap, a large quarter, a low shaft, and a small heel to achieve the look of boots from that era. By combining two different construction methods, we created a strongly cinched waist to reproduce the elegant silhouette of boots from that time. Imagining the actors who were accustomed to showing off, we designed the toe with a unique shape featuring lines. The leather is smooth horsehide (horse front) with a natural grain. Since it's leather that hasn't been heavily "processed," as you wear it, natural markings like wrinkles and scars may appear, but these are all part of the richness of horse leather. It's soft leather, so it molds to your feet perfectly. Like "SPORTIF," these are surprisingly light and comfortable boots.

Colors are black and oak brown.

The black has a brown core that ages beautifully, while the oak brown has a deep, nuanced color, and you can enjoy the aging process as the black dye used for finishing fades.

 

I'm wearing the oak brown one. I've only been wearing them for less than a week.

As mentioned in the description, just like the Sportif, they are light and easy to wear for boots.

The high toe looks somehow cool, and the softness of the horsehide leather provides an indescribably perfect fit.

I also like how easy they are to walk in.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they age.

・Goodyear Welt construction (forefoot area)

・McKay construction (waist to heel area)

The Sportif boots combine these two constructions.

The waist is significantly tapered, which is very clear when viewed from the bottom of the sole.

The leather used for the Sportif is French calf, which is characterized by its fine grain with few imperfections, pleasant feel, and soft texture.

By pressing the surface of the leather, the fibers are tightly compressed, giving it firmness.

Since the Sportif's leather is "oka-zome" (hand-dyed) brown core leather, as you wear it,

the leather will age, and the brown undertone will begin to show through.

You can enjoy watching its appearance change.

The Sportif is a moccasin-style boot that can be paired with a wide range of pants, from slim to wide.

These are the boots I wore the most this year.

After about 8 months of wear, they have become very comfortable.

I will continue to wear them next year as well.
