〜The extremely popular souvenir jacket〜

Good evening. This is Uemura from WEST.

Today's feature is this.

USMC Souvenir Jacket 【JP03408】

A major item for 2024AW

Here it is.

I actually knew about the original item for this piece since the old WEST store, and even back then, I thought, "This is amazing."

What makes it so rare is that it's a military item.

Sukajan (souvenir jackets) usually feature various embroidery designs besides dragons, tigers, and eagles, but military-themed ones are even more valuable.

Expensive sukajan also include skulls as one of their designs, and other rare pieces feature the Great Buddha, battleships, or Fudo Myoo.

It features epaulets on the shoulders,

and side adjusters at the waist.

This already makes it a rare piece among sukajan.

The outer side (A-side) is made of 100% cotton velour fabric,

and features extensive embroidery on the front, back, sleeves, and cuffs.

The inner side (B-side) is made of rayon satin,

and features the famous Iwo Jima embroidery.

This is quilted after the embroidery is done.

This allows you to wear a special sukajan produced in the same way as vintage pieces from the 1950s,

giving you the feeling of wearing deadstock from that era.

Since it's generously filled with cotton waste,

the sukajan has a voluminous feel.

It also provides excellent warmth, so please try it on at the store.

〜USMC M44 Monkey Pants〜

【Pre-order item, arriving early March】Monkey Trousers【CT11344】

USMC M44 Monkey Pants are pants issued to the Marine Corps,

and are a popular item in the vintage industry, affectionately known as "Monkey Pants."

The origin of their name is as follows:

They feature large, horizontal cargo pockets with flaps.

These large pockets were designed to hold "ponchos,"

and the flaps were added to prevent contents from falling out.

These pockets are said to resemble a monkey's buttocks, which is why they are called "Monkey Pants."

The M44's manufacturing period was actually very short, lasting only "1 year and 3 months,"

from July 1944 to around October 1945.

Additionally, because they were issued to the "elite few"

in the U.S. Marine Corps, the overall production volume was low, which means they are traded at very high prices in the vintage market.

The periods during which the U.S. Marine Corps actually wore them include...

・The Battle of Iwo Jima (February 19 - March 26, 1945)

・Around the Battle of Okinawa (March 26 - September 7, 1945).

Also, after World War II,

・The Korean War (June 25, 1950 - July 27, 1953)

They appear to have been widely worn during these conflicts.

Jelado's Monkey Pants use herringbone material.

Furthermore, they are dyed with vat dyes.

And the buttons are doughnut buttons,

which also enhances the vintage feel.

By wearing them regularly, you can enjoy the aged look over time.

They pair well with native-patterned mid-length coats,

leather jackets, and even

coveralls, and I also recommend pairing them with a chambray shirt.

I recommend pairing them with chambray shirts.

Please make your reservations at the store or online.

Thank you.
