The Last Resort Black Tag fabric was created by cutting up an actual 1940s vintage 501XX owned by our company and analyzing everything from thread thickness to twist count. We successfully reproduced the rough unevenness characteristic of 1940s XX denim and its deep indigo color, which is almost black.

 

 

The strong point is the rugged construction, typical of 1940s workwear, before denim jackets became fashion items. It is thought that the sleeves were attached in such a way that they would form a T-shape when laid flat, likely for efficiency of production.

 

 

We are very particular about the buckle back, faithfully reproducing the cinch-back buckle that was characteristic of the early First Type.

 

As you can see, it pairs perfectly with chinos (pairing it with 41 Khakis for a 40s look is a classic choice).

Of course, we also recommend pairing it with pants made from the same Last Resort Black Tag fabric for a set-up.

Due to ease of wear and range of motion, denim jackets tend to fade slower than denim pants. Therefore, we recommend breaking in the jacket before the pants. Why not kick off this autumn with a denim jacket?
