Today's topic is

that it's possible to create something exactly like vintage pieces from that era, even now...

This is the main point of today's blog.

 

Embroidering using the 'same' method as in the 1950s...

Although it's a '2023AW product' for JELADO,

it's not an exaggeration to call this 'the ultimate piece' a vintage item in this day and age...

JELADO Souvenir Jacket Black【JP83403】

 

 

As those who have seen it in person know,

the intricate embroidery of this sukajan (souvenir jacket) is

done entirely by one woman in her 70s.

 

There are fewer people who can revive traditional crafts

in this modern age.

 

The front side (A-side), as it's called,

features a design that reproduces a custom-made item

created for an air force soldier.

Vintage custom-made items of this type

are currently traded at very high prices.

 

The velour is a firm fabric with a suppressed sheen.

The rayon thread embroidery design will

fade with sun exposure, creating a vintage feel.

 

 

 

 

The B-side is made of rayon satin.

Since JELADO is based on vintage items,

this side is quilted after being embroidered with the karajishi (Chinese lion) pattern.

Thus, diamond-shaped quilting is sewn over the embroidery.

 

If a mistake is made, the embroidery is ruined, so I imagine

the mental effort required for just one jacket is immense.

The base is from before the 1950s.

To recreate a thick yet soft fabric,

we thoroughly analyzed vintage flannel shirts

and conducted detailed analysis at a testing institution,

similar to Lee's workwear, on:

 

・Staple length

・Twist coefficient

・Yarn count

・Number of threads per inch

 

Based on this, we developed a completely new flannel from scratch.

 

This product uses

sulfur dyes.

While the demand for sulfur dyeing is low in recent years,

the 'aging' effect from wear and

the fluffy 'fabric feel' and 'skin contact'

— as if wrapped in a towel — are exceptionally good and highly recommended.

 

Many customers inquire about the size of this product,

but we would be grateful if you could consult us in person at the store,

rather than by phone (as we may not be able to respond due to in-store visits, etc.).
