Eddie Bauer, a long-established outdoor brand,
released the famous "Skyliner" in the 1960s.
What is Eddie Bauer?
It is a long-established brand founded in 1920, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020.
Eddie Bauer, who started his career in Seattle, Washington, is now an outdoor brand, but when it was founded, it was a tennis shop.
From there, it expanded to become a brand that handles outdoor sports such as fishing and hunting.
The Skyliner has been released by Eddie Bauer since 1936.
What is the Skyliner?
It refers to the down jacket released by Eddie Bauer in 1936.
Until then, wool was the mainstream material for cold weather gear, but Eddie Bauer noticed the lightness and warmth of down feathers and uniquely encapsulated down in a quilt.
That is the "Diamond Quilt."
By making it a diamond-shaped quilt, the down can be evenly distributed without bias, increasing heat retention.
However...
JELADO's McKinley is a jacket that is an even higher-spec version of the "Skyliner."
In fact, down is extremely vulnerable to water.
When wet, the down clumps together in the quilt, creating uneven distribution.
As a result, gaps form in the quilt, reducing its heat retention performance.
However, Primaloft, which is also used in mountaineering wear, is different.
This material offers feather-like lightness and warmth, and additionally, it is water-repellent, meaning it can maintain 98% of its insulation performance even when wet.
It is a high-spec material.
It is available in two colors: black and olive.
With classic black and earthy olive, it pairs very well with jeans and chinos, so it's highly recommended.
