新作スモーカーシャツ ~Flagship Store~

New Smoker Shirts - Flagship Store

Thank you for always visiting our store.

As spring approaches, more and more people are visiting to look for shirts. So today, we'll be introducing our new twisted yarn chambray smoker shirt.

JELADO Smoker Shirt 【JP13103】

The material used is a twisted chambray fabric in red and indigo.

What is chambray fabric?

Chambray fabric generally refers to a plain weave fabric that uses a colored yarn, such as indigo, for the warp and a white yarn (or a different colored yarn from the warp) for the weft. It is characterized by its unique mottled texture.

Like this smoker shirt, the use of indigo for the warp and white yarn for the weft is similar to denim fabric, but denim is a twill weave fabric, so the weaving method is different.

Plain weave fabrics, like chambray, are woven by interweaving warp and weft threads alternately. Because there are many points where the threads intersect, the fabric becomes very durable and firm.

Also, since the warp and weft threads are woven evenly, there is little difference between the front and back of the fabric.

On the other hand, twill weave fabrics like denim are woven by skipping several warp and weft threads before interweaving them. Since there are fewer points where the threads intersect, they are highly elastic.

Also, unlike plain weave, if different threads are used for the warp and weft, the front and back of the fabric will have different colors. This is why the back of denim is white.

And "yorimoku" (twisted yarn) or "flake" refers to a fabric that expresses a mottled color by twisting together two or more colors of yarn.

The design of this chambray is based on the "Gachapoke" shirt from "BIG YANK" in the 1930s.

As the name "Gachapoke" suggests, it features different shaped pockets on the left and right.

The smaller pocket on the left is a cigarette pocket, which is the origin of the "smoker shirt" name. In the 1930s, cigarette packs were not covered in plastic, so the pockets were made in a pouch shape to prevent cigarettes from getting wet when workers sweated.

Triple stitching is used in various places for a sturdy work shirt feel.

In addition, it features a selvedge gusset, a detail found in Big Yank shirts of the time.
