クラシックな撚り杢シャンブレーを、ハーフジップで──「シギーシャツ」~Flagship Store~

Classic twisted chambray with a half-zip — "Siggy Shirt" ~Flagship Store~

Thank you for always visiting our store.

As the new season approaches, we've received the Ciggy Shirt, perfect for layering or wearing on its own.

This is a very classic chambray shirt based on the 1930s "BIG YANK" half-zip pullover shirt with Gacha pockets.

・What is chambray fabric?

Chambray fabric generally refers to a plain weave fabric that uses colored yarn, such as indigo, for the warp and white yarn (or a different colored yarn than the warp) for the weft. It is characterized by its unique mottled texture.

Like this smoker shirt, the use of indigo for the warp and white yarn for the weft is similar to denim fabric, but denim is a twill weave, so the weaving method is different.

Plain weave fabrics, like chambray, are woven with warp and weft yarns interlacing alternately. Because there are many points where the yarns interlace, the fabric is very strong and has a firm texture.

Also, since the warp and weft yarns are woven evenly, there is little difference between the front and back of the fabric.

On the other hand, twill weave fabrics, like denim, are woven by skipping some warp and weft yarns when interlacing. Because there are fewer points where the yarns interlace, the fabric is highly elastic.

Also, unlike plain weave, if different yarns are used for the warp and weft, the color on the front and back of the fabric will differ. This is why the back of denim is white.

Twisted mottled (flake) fabric is a fabric that expresses a mottled color by twisting two or more colors of yarn together.

This Ciggy Shirt is a half-zip pullover that incorporates the details of vintage "BIG YANK". It seems that half-zips were prized by people engaged in demanding labor because they allowed for easy temperature adjustment.

The separated cuffs, a characteristic of "BIG YANK," and

the short chin strap, known as "chocochin," have been reproduced.

The smaller pocket on the front is a cigarette pocket with a bag-sewn specification. This is a vintage detail from a time when cigarette packs didn't have film wrapping, designed to prevent cigarettes from getting wet with sweat.

Triple stitching is used in various places for robust construction, as befits a work shirt.

Also, it features a gusset with selvage, a detail found in Big Yank garments of that era.

Furthermore, the Ciggy Shirt is also available in a version made with JELADO's original fabric.

Similar to the Last Resort fabric, this is a supreme chambray fabric created by meticulously reproducing the characteristics of the original fabric, such as the yarn count, number of picks, shape of slub yarn, and twist condition, by dismantling vintage "BIG YANK" chambray that JELADO has collected.

As such, the flagship store currently offers a variety of Ciggy Shirt variations. Please feel free to browse them all.
