JELADO & The 2Monkeys

2024 SS Collection Preview.

 

Representative Goto founded the company on September 6, 2003.

The location was Koenji.

The vintage clothing store "Sprout," which can be considered the predecessor of Jelado, opened.

 

Then, in June 2005,

"JELADO" was born in the place where the FLAGSHIP STORE is currently located,

and accumulated 18 years of history.

 

Goto named the vintage clothing store Sprout

"with the hope that it would grow like a budding young tree in my life to come."

 

The theme of the JELADO 2024 SS Collection is

"Sprout."

 

"Even after 20 years since founding the company,

I wanted people who knew that era to rediscover American designs with nostalgia,

while still pursuing the same things. Therefore, I decided to revive the Sprout Collection,

returning to the original intention when I founded the company. This collection will feature American clothing

inspired by vintage items purchased in America."

 

At that time, I myself was buying at a vintage clothing store.

When I think back to that time...

"Something can be found if you go to America."

I boarded the plane with such expectations. I was 23 then (laughs).

~Leather Jackets arriving one after another at JELADO WEST~

 

 

 

 

 

30's Style Horsehide Sports Jacket “HERCULES” Black JELADO Special

【RCL-10013H-JE】

 

 

Approximately 1.2mm thick

vegetable-tanned horsehide.

It has an aniline oil finish.

 

The leather is characterized by a firm feel and suppleness. The heavy leather

will develop deep wrinkles with repeated wear, and you can enjoy the aging process.

 

The design is based on a collared sports jacket

from the 1930s, by the brand HERCULES.

 

※What is HERCULES?

The three major American store brands are

・Sears

・Montgomery Ward

・J.C. Penney

 

Within these brands,

HERCULES was a private label of Sears.

 

Hercules was founded in 1908 and disappeared around 1965.

Among Sears' private brands,

it was popular among workers.

There is no doubt that it was a brand representing Sears.

 

As it is a 1930s style,

details can be seen everywhere.

 

First, there is a "chin strap" at the collar.

 

What is a "chin strap"?

It is a belt used to secure the collar along the neck

to prevent wind from entering. The "chin" in chin strap refers to the chin.

 

And the zipper end is a

grommet zipper specification.

As a jacket, this is a detail unique to this era.

 

(Chest pocket)

 

(Slash pockets)

There's a pocket with a ball chain on the left chest.

The hem has diagonal slash pockets. The ball chain is also

a common detail from this era.

 

(Ventilation)

And as an unseen detail,

there's ventilation under the arms.

Ventilation holes are provided for better airflow.

And on the back, there's an unusual yoke...

I think everyone has seen the common two-piece yoke,

but this one is a three-piece yoke.

This is what excited me the most.

 

(Double-stitched seams)

The classic feel of the double-stitched seams

is also a great touch.

The details are flashy, but...

 

(Double Ring)

The sides have double-ring adjusters.

These are used to cinch and adjust the hem.

 

(Lining)

The lining is usually wool Melton,

but as a special order from JELADO,

this one uses a thick cotton-rayon fabric

that is easy to put on and take off.

Since it's a smooth lining,

I think this specification is a great feature.

 

This is a leather sports jacket, a special order

from Rainbow Country for JELADO.

 

This is the ultimate leather jacket, overflowing with a sense of weight

and incorporating special details.

of genuine leather,
