In the 18th century, the northeastern and inland areas of North America were French territory. The French traveled to the unexplored lands to trade fur with the native peoples and hunt beavers. There is no document to prove that they wore leather jackets. However, it is possible that they, who had the deepest contact with the Native Americans, who had the custom of wearing leather jackets since that time, created and wore leather jackets that incorporated the style of French clothing of that time (around 1750). This is a sleeved waistcoat (jacket) designed based on this hypothesis. It is a one-of-a-kind leather jacket that incorporates details that inherit the European style of the time, such as the forward-swept (bent) sleeves, the unique curves of the armholes, the unique back stitching for tightening, and the gusseted hem.
