The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf【TM72924】＆The 2 Monkeys VAUDEVILLE【TM83933】

I will introduce VAUDEVILLE【TM83933】.

Sportif is a French vintage-style moccasin boot. (Moccasins are shoes with a structure that wraps the foot using a single piece of leather. They are based on the slip-on shoes worn by Native Americans.

Later, a type was created where the U-shaped upper was sewn together. The method of sewing this upper is called "moccasin stitching," which is where the name "moccasin" comes from.)

The Sportif last, equivalent to an E width, is designed to fit standard feet somewhat loosely, but even those with narrower feet can achieve a snug fit by tightening the laces firmly. This is thanks to the softness of the leather. Those with high insteps and wide feet can choose a slightly larger size than their foot length without significantly compromising the fit. Because the sole width is narrowed at the arch, the foot rests on the soft leather.

The 2 Monkeys boots "Sportif" are designed with inspiration from boots worn for hunting and outdoor activities in France around the 1920s to 1930s.

The construction of the toe uses the Goodyear welt method, and the waist to the heel is made with the McKay method, which takes a considerable amount of time to manufacture. However, we believe these boots offer a delightful attention to detail.

From the inside, they look like elegant, dressy boots, while from the outside, they resemble work boots.

The top and bottom of the heel have an S-shaped curve, giving them a neat and smart appearance.

The leather used, French calf (calf leather from calves under 6 months old, with French-produced high-quality calf being particularly fine-grained and soft), perfectly matches the shape of these boots. As you wear them, the leather conforms to your feet, making them truly comfortable boots.

The black is "hill-dyed" (a method where undyed fabric is dyed with spray or brush, allowing little dye to penetrate the leather, so the cross-section appears undyed). With age, it will change to a tea-core, developing a unique character.

I wear them regularly, and a faint tea core is starting to show. The wrinkles have also developed nicely.

Maintenance is easy and hassle-free.

After wearing them, brush them with a horsehair brush, and apply oil every 3-4 months, followed by brushing.

Since the stitching thread is brown, if you use colored cream, the color may transfer to the thread, so we recommend using colorless cream.

Sportif boots, which combine American casual fashion with French European taste, are highly recommended.

Vaudeville was a popular form of entertainment in America before the spread of cinema. During its heyday from around 1880 to 1920, numerous vaudeville theaters thrived in major cities like New York. The content was rich in variety, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, and more. Many early silent film stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy, and the Marx Brothers came from vaudeville backgrounds. They traveled from theater to theater. The 2 Monkeys "VAUDEVILLE" boots are designed with the image of these vaudeville actors, who were also traveling performers. (They are not a reproduction of any specific vintage boot.) They were inspired by American and French boots from around the 1910s.

These are cap-toe external blucher boots with a high toe, also called a bulldog toe, and a quarter that is sewn from separate upper and lower parts. We combined an original last with a slightly oblique toe, a small cap, a large quarter, a low shaft, and a small heel to achieve the look of boots from that era. By combining two types of construction and strongly narrowing the waist, we have reproduced the elegant silhouette of boots from that time. The toe has a unique shape with a line. The leather is smooth yet retains a natural texture: horsehide (horse front). Since the leather is not heavily "finished," as you wear it, natural marks like wrinkles and scratches may emerge, allowing you to fully appreciate the characteristics of horse leather. Like the Sportif, these boots are surprisingly lightweight.

These boots have a design that evokes the scenery of that era, don't they?

They come in two colors: black and oak brown.

They have a different look than the Sportif, and the material used is horse front, which is very soft leather, so I believe they will conform to your feet and be comfortable to wear.

The actual boots are quite cool, so please come and see them in person.

Like the Sportif, these boots also allow you to enjoy their aging process.

I started wearing them at the end of last year, and it's been a month now.

The image shows a strong brown color, but in reality, it feels a bit darker brown.

Like the Sportif, I hope to introduce their aging process.

These are highly recommended boots that I definitely want you to try once.
