Now, I'd like to introduce some new autumn/winter items that are arriving sequentially, and also show you the aging of my personal pair of The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf [TM72924].

It's a perfect match for a leather jacket as an inner layer.

 

This short-length type is popular every year. While retaining the essence of old American style, we've slightly narrowed the arms, tightened the body width, and shortened the length compared to conventional flannel shirts to make it enjoyable for modern wearers.

The difference from the other regular-length flannel shirt is clear when worn in the correct size: it has wider shoulders, a narrower body width, and slightly longer sleeves compared to the regular-length version.

The length is slightly shorter, resulting in a tighter silhouette.

As seen in the staff's photos, the length is shorter than a regular flannel shirt, making it a versatile item that works well with short-length riders jackets, flight jackets, deck jackets, denim jackets, down vests, and a wide range of other styles.

In spring, you can even wear a flannel shirt as a main outer layer.

When you wear it in the right size, you'll rediscover the comfort, silhouette, and warmth of the flannel shirt.

 

 

The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf [TM72924] Price: ¥121,000 (tax included)

"Sportif" is a French vintage-style moccasin boot (a moccasin is a shoe constructed from a single piece of leather that wraps around the foot, originally based on slip-on shoes worn by Native Americans).

 

Later, types were made where the U-shaped upper was stitched together, and the method of stitching this upper is called "moccasin stitching," hence the name "moccasin."

The Sportif last, which is equivalent to an E width, is designed to fit average-shaped feet somewhat loosely, but even those with slender feet can tighten the laces for a secure fit, thanks to the softness of the leather. Those with high insteps and wide feet will not significantly compromise the fit even if they choose a slightly larger size than their foot length. The sole width is narrowed at the arch, allowing the foot to rest on the soft leather.

The 2 Monkeys' Sportif boots are designed with the image of boots worn for hunting and outdoor activities in France around the 1920s to 1930s.

 

The Sportif's most distinctive feature is its sneaker-like lightness, despite being a leather shoe.

The construction is also quite elaborate, with the toe made using the Goodyear welt method and the waist to the heel made using the Blake rapid method, taking a considerable amount of time to produce. However, it is a boot whose craftsmanship you can truly appreciate.

From the inside, it looks dressy and like a beautiful shoe, while from the outside, it looks like a work boot.

The heel curves in an S-shape both above and below, giving it a sleek and smart appearance.

The leather used is French calf (calf leather from calves under 6 months old, with high-quality French calf being particularly fine-grained and soft) that matches the shape of this boot. As you wear them, the leather conforms to your feet, making them truly comfortable boots. The black "oka-zome" (a dyeing method where color is sprayed or brushed onto undyed fabric, with the dye hardly penetrating the leather, leaving the cross-section looking undyed) will age to a brown core, developing a rich character.

After wearing them, I recommend brushing them with a horsehair brush and applying oil every 3-4 months, followed by brushing. You can also refer to the care instructions in the video.

Since the stitching thread is brown, I recommend using a colorless cream when applying cream, to avoid color transfer to the thread.

The Sportif boots, which combine American casual fashion with French European taste, are highly recommended.

 

 

 

 

 

I've been wearing them since May.

Approximately 7 months have passed.

I wear them about 4 days a week.

They've been worn quite a bit and have adapted to my feet.

In my case, on days I wear them, I make sure to brush them thoroughly, and I apply cream every 1 to 2 months.

What I realize when wearing them is how incredibly light they are.

They're boots, yet they're light.

I wear them almost every day and will continue to cherish them.

The toe is constructed like a dress shoe, while the waist to the heel is constructed like a boot.

Black calf will be arriving periodically, so please visit the store and try them on when they are in stock.
