The temperature is gradually rising and leather jacket season is coming to an end, but we are excited to announce that the much-anticipated 44 Leather Jacket is finally back in stock, so we will be bringing you details on that this time.
JELADO 44Leather Jacket (44 Leather Jacket) Horse hide Semi-aniline Finish【JP94409】
This leather jacket was created with the concept of what it would be like if the first type of denim jacket from 1944, during World War II, commonly known as the "War Model," was made of leather.
During the war, material controls were imposed on private companies in the United States. To conserve iron used for buttons, denim jackets were reduced from five buttons to four.
Furthermore, the buttons, which originally had brand engravings, were changed to mass-produced laurel wreath buttons used by the military and others.
Because the "War Model" with these characteristics was only produced for a very short period from 1942 to 1946 after World War II, its rarity makes it a coveted piece among enthusiasts in the vintage market.
JELADO's 44 Leather jacket inherits the details of the "War Model" mentioned above, and furthermore, aims to be a jacket that can be worn casually like denim and enjoyed for its aging.
To achieve the ideal aging, we developed a new horsehide. This is a so-called "tea-core" leather, where the base is dyed light brown, and then black is applied with hill-dyeing at a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo. Just like denim that fades and ages beautifully, the black on top peels off to reveal the brown base underneath, creating a unique material.
The tanning process is also meticulous. The approximately 1.6mm thick horsehide is first chrome-tanned, then the solvents are washed away, and it is re-tanned with vegetable tannins. This achieves both the plasticity of vegetable tanning, which allows wrinkles to be etched, and the suppleness of chrome tanning.
Initially, the leather has a smooth texture, but with wear, it develops a distinctive grain like this.
The silhouette is a slightly longer modification of the very short first-type denim jacket. It's a jacket that even those who find riders' jackets difficult to wear in town can easily throw on.
