Today, I'd like to introduce this long-awaited product.
When it arrived last time, it was almost completely filled with reservations,
leaving only a small number available for in-store sales.
I will be breaking down the JELADO 44 Leather Jacket
detail by detail.
The JELADO 44 Leather Jacket is based on the LEVI'S S506XX, so...
It features laurel wreath buttons.
These are also known as "Ivy Embossed Buttons" or
"Leaf Logo Buttons," but commonly,
"laurel wreath buttons" are more familiar.
Since it's based on the S506XX,
there are "4" buttons instead of 5.
They have been treated with a blue rust finish.
As you wear it repeatedly, the leather will age,
and the patina will match the overall look.
The left chest pocket has no flap.
This is also one of the details of the S506XX.
Next is the back.
For LEVI'S 506XX,
sizes 46 and up feature a split back design.
In modern terms, this refers to a "T-BACK specification."
This is a detail that vintage enthusiasts
will surely appreciate, isn't it?
※Trivia
・The 506XX has a split back from size 46.
・The 507XX has side seams for sizes 42-50.
The split back is for custom orders of size 50 or larger.
And above the waistband,
a cinch back is adopted.
This is just my personal opinion, but
those who love VINTAGE LEVI'S
will definitely be divided into "506XX faction" and "507XX faction."
I am definitely a 506XX person.
I simply like the "single pocket & cinch back".
Many people who prefer the 507XX
dislike the cinch back, and
the most common reason is that "it scratches the car seat" when getting in.
Besides that, I think there are many people
who like the boxy silhouette.
Let's get back to the topic a bit.
The leather used here is
newly developed horsehide, approximately 1.6mm thick.
It was then tanned in a combination (chrome x tannin) method.
After chrome tanning, the solution is washed away,
and then re-tanned with tannin, bringing out the best qualities of tannin.
This results in a moderately heavy feel to the leather, and with repeated wear,
it develops a unique character that can be enjoyed for its evolving appearance.
After dyeing the base layer a light brown,
a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo
applied black dye on top, creating a "tea core" leather.
This time, to achieve a stronger black color,
a "semi-aniline" finish was used, mixing pigments and dyes in equal parts.
The dye, which penetrates the base, and
the pigment, which forms a thin film on top,
match perfectly, creating a beautiful aging process as it's worn.
It has a softness that 100% pigment leather lacks,
and because it has a thin film of coating,
the base color will quickly show through with wear.
This 44 leather is not usually available in large quantities.
