Vaudeville refers to a form of popular entertainment that originated in France at the end of the 19th century. It also swept America before movies became widespread.

The 2 Monkeys' VAUDEVILLE was inspired by the shoes worn by vaudeville actors who traveled from town to town. It draws inspiration from American and French boots from around the 1910s. While it doesn't reproduce a specific vintage boot, considering that vaudeville as an art form spread from France to America, it's fair to say the name perfectly reflects its essence.

In fact, movies themselves were originally screened during vaudeville intermissions. It was much later that movie screenings in theaters became common.

Thus, vaudeville and the earliest films had a very close relationship. In fact, many of the stars of early silent films came from vaudeville.

While VAUDEVILLE has a slightly dressy appearance, it pairs perfectly with workwear like blue-tag painter pants.

The inspiration for The 2 Monkeys' VAUDEVILLE reportedly comes from vaudeville-trained film actors like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

In Chaplin's own classic film, "Modern Times," he can be seen wearing workwear with hickory stripes paired with boots that have a slightly upturned toe, much like the VAUDEVILLE.

The VAUDEVILLE is surprisingly light for a boot, so it might even be possible to skip and jump lightly like Chaplin in the movie.
