This time, please allow us to reintroduce The 2 Monkeys Sportif, a highly popular boot that has been re-stocked after a long time.
The 2 Monkeys Sportif Black Calf【TM72924】
Sportif was designed with inspiration from boots worn for hunting and outdoor activities in France around the 1920s and 30s.
It combines a style common in Europe during that period with the moccasin-toe hunting shoe style that became popular in America around the same time. This successfully merges a classical European ambiance with an earthy American feel. Therefore, it pairs exceptionally well with classic American casual items like jeans and chinos. It will add a unique twist to your usual American casual style.
To achieve this form, a very special manufacturing method is employed. It uses a rare combination of two construction methods: the Goodyear welt method for the front third of the shoe and the McKay method for the back two-thirds. This allows for a significantly tapered waist silhouette, similar to old European boots.
Unlike the Goodyear welt, which fills the sole with a lot of cork, the McKay method allows for a thin and lightweight sole. This results in excellent sole flexibility and makes the boots comfortable to walk in from the start.
The curve from the ankle to the heel is also very beautiful. By narrowing the ankle area, the foot is held firmly in place.
The upper uses Italian horse leather (horsefront). It's what's known as "tea core," where Italian brown leather is dyed black in Japan.
Because it's soft, foot-friendly horse leather, you can wear it with a comfortable feel. Since it's dyed with dye and then finished with pigment, you can enjoy a rich aging process, including the natural appearance of the "tea core."
Sportif's lightness, a combination of horsehide and its unique construction method, results in a very light and flexible finish. This is a masterpiece that we encourage even those who dislike hard, heavy shoes and usually don't wear boots to try on.
Sportif is packed with such attention to detail. Please try it on in-store to experience its surprisingly light feel for a boot.
