〜Suspenders or belt?〜

Good evening. This is Uemura from WEST.

Recently, a WEST customer asked me about styling a certain product,

so I decided to take this opportunity to propose some styling options in this blog post.

The product in question is this...

JELADO Hoghead Wabash Trousers【AG02307】

 

I've tried two different styles for these Hoghead Wabash Trousers:

"suspended with suspenders" and

"worn with a belt."

I'll show you one outfit for each.

First, the suspender style.

When it comes to the suspender style, I personally recommend pairing it with a "shirt."

To add to that, a "vest" is a great addition.

The 2 Monkeys Trappers Vest【TM83529】

To begin with, these pants are meant to be worn with suspenders.

That's because the vintage trousers these are based on are from the 1890s,

when belt loops didn't exist yet, and "waist overalls" worn with suspenders were the norm.

Belt loops have been added for ease of use,

but for the suspender style, I definitely recommend a "shirt."

This time, I used a collarless shirt,

but collared shirts also work well. And I recommend pairing them with boots.

These wide pants, when paired with a shirt, completely change their vibe,

and the shirt accentuates the pants' best features.

And here's the style with a belt.

Since they aren't suspended, the hem sits lower.

This is the key point when using a belt:

the lower hem perfectly complements the American casual style.

So, boots are good, but sneakers also work well.

This time, for the inner layer, I used

a Champs Sweat (this print is sold out)

and on top, the classic black tag 407EXX', to enhance the American casual feel.

While there is overall fading,

the puckering and honeycombs create

a truly vintage feel.

It's a cool jacket with a natural,
