This season, new colors and new leather versions of The 2 Monkeys' classic round-neck waistcoat have been released. Today, we will be introducing the Round-neck Leather Waistcoat.

The 2 Monkeys Round-neck Leather Waistcoat【TM03430】

For the Fall/Winter 2025 season, in addition to black steerhide (cowhide) that is chrome-tanned and through-dyed, offering a soft, fabric-like feel,

we also offer olive suede. This is a tannin-tanned horsehide suede with the grain side.

This style is a round-neck version of The 2 Monkeys' classic V-neck leather jacket.

In the 18th century, beaver hunting was popular among settlers in parts of North America that were still French territory. These French people were also not afraid to travel to uncharted lands for fur trade with Native Americans.

The 2 Monkeys Leather Waistcoat【TM83434】

This jacket was created with the assumption of what outerwear those settlers would have worn when traveling through rough, uncharted territories. What kind of garment would have resulted if an 18th-century French-style waistcoat (jacket) was made using the techniques of Native Americans, who were already wearing leather garments at the time? This Leather Waistcoat was created based on that hypothesis.

　　

Currently, a waistcoat refers to a button-up, sleeveless vest worn as part of a three-piece suit, like the one shown here,

but in France until the mid-18th century, a long-sleeved garment like the one above was called a waistcoat (or "vest" in French). This is a silk waistcoat (vest) made in France in 1747.

It features curved, forward-set sleeves typical of the period.

Furthermore, from 18th-century French styles, we've incorporated details such as a unique back seam for cinching,

and gussets at the hem.

The biggest difference from the standard waistcoat is probably the use of very soft tanned cowhide and horse suede.

This is a very comfortable jacket to wear. Please consider it.
