Today, we'd like to introduce our top outerwear pick for this season: the M-43 field jacket, made from herringbone twill.

The M-43 was an item newly developed and adopted in 1941 at the request of President Roosevelt, aiming to change the image of the military for young people and increase enlistment.

Prior to that, uniforms were made of blue denim, but many soldiers complained that they were stiff and uncomfortable. That's when this herringbone twill (HBT) fabric was newly adopted.

Herringbone twill is a twill fabric named because it resembles the bones of a herring when it is opened.

The M-43 was initially adopted as a uniform for training and general duties.

However, the wool uniforms previously used as combat attire were too heavy and unsuitable for tropical regions. Due to this, the M-43, made from lightweight cotton herringbone fabric, gradually began to be used as combat attire as well.

For this JELADO herringbone fabric, we strived to faithfully reproduce the original texture, including dyeing it with the same vat dye used at the time. Vat dye has low color fastness, so it will gradually fade with wear, making this a highly anticipated item for its aging process.

The buttons are black-painted iron laurel buttons, so the black paint will also gradually peel off, showing a change over time.

This time, we have also specially produced a navy color that did not exist in the original.

Of course, the navy color is also dyed with vat dye, just like the olive, so you can enjoy its aging process.

And this time, we are also offering baker pants made from the same herringbone fabric, which can be worn as a set. Baker pants, especially the early models, are currently very popular in the vintage market, so if you're looking for them, please consider these as well.

Of course, navy baker pants are also available.
