New this spring: RED WING OLD OUTDOOR 1930's SPORT OXFORD.
This is a reproduction of Red Wing's best-selling pre-war Oxford, which was available from the mid-1920s to the early 40s.
With a moccasin-type toe that gives off the light yet somewhat wild image of Indian moccasins, and a flat box design without a toe cap, these shoes are comfortable to wear even when moving actively, and have earned acclaim for a wide range of uses, from sports to work.
The leather used is cigar "Retan".
In order to recreate the quality and feel of leather from the 1950s to 70s, Ritan Leather is made by applying a thin coating to full-grain oiled leather and then finishing it with a resin-based top coat to give it a strong shine.
This shoe also has a brown core, so as you wear it the surface of the leather will be rubbed off and the coating will fade, gradually revealing the light brown base and allowing you to enjoy the expressive changes that occur over time.
The sole is the Grocord sole "King-B", which is being reproduced for the first time.
This sole was used by Red Wing until the 1950s, and was originally made from rubber mixed with cord (string).
The tips of the cords are designed to extend perpendicular to the tread surface of the sole, increasing the friction coefficient with the road surface and preventing slipping.
This shoe has a highly grippy, soft sole, making it extremely comfortable to wear.
With its simple design, this item can be used in a variety of outfits, from casual to classic styles.

The Red Wing 1930's Sport Oxford is a reproduction of Red Wing's best-selling pre-war Oxford, which was available from the mid-1920s through the early 1940s.
The moccasin-type toe design that Red Wing began to adopt during this period incorporated the light and somewhat wild image of Indian moccasins into shoes made using the durable Goodyear welted method.
These shoes, which had a flat box design without a toe cap and could be worn comfortably even during active movements, were called "Sport Oxfords" and were praised as a multi-purpose shoe that could be used for sports such as hiking and golf, as well as for work and everyday wear.
It was also revolutionary to use the Grocord "King-B" sole, which had just been developed at the time, to ensure consistent high grip in a variety of environments, including the outdoors.
Now, with the cooperation of Vibram USA, we have reproduced the Grocord "King-B" sole, improving the authenticity of the 1930s Sport Oxford, a representative short shoe of this era.
Throughout Red Wing's history, there are numerous examples of shoes that could be called "old outdoor" shoes, made using the Goodyear welt method, and which were recreated as "Classic Dress" boots from the early 20th century that could be used as both work and dress shoes, but which are a different style from the world of shoes.
Among these, the 1930's Sport Oxford is a unique pair of short shoes.
"Gro Cord King-B Sole & Heel
The Grocord "King-B" sole and heel reproduced this time are manufactured by Vibram USA (formerly Quaboug).
Red Wing is Vibram USA's (formerly Quaboug) longest standing customer and maintains a strong relationship with the company.
It is based on this relationship that the development of new soles like this is possible.
"Flat Box" Toe
The 1930s Sport Oxford is a flat box design without a toe cap.
When new, there may be slight individual differences in the shape of the toe.
This is due to subtle differences in the original tension (hardness) of the leather in the toe area and the manufacturing environment.
The flat box toe allows the leather to become conformal and deform as you wear the shoes.
Basically, the toes are rounded when the shoes are new, but they will gradually become flatter.
The way this deformation occurs varies depending on subtle differences in the properties of the leather, the fit of the shoe to your foot, your walking style, and other factors, such as the creases in the instep of the shoe.
