These side-gore boots, which have their roots in British riding boots, are said to have been named "Chelsea" because they were popular in the Chelsea district of London in the 19th century. Although this design is often used for formal shoes, they have long been used as work boots due to their high functionality. The gore (rubber cloth) sewn onto the side of the shoe makes it easy to put on and take off, fits snugly around the ankle, and prevents mud from getting in.
This classic Chelsea is a completely new Chelsea boot that combines relaxation and comfort while following its traditional style. The midsole is made of highly cushioned Poron material, which is well-known for its super sole. A thin leather sheet is attached on top of it to achieve cushioning and comfort. In addition, the instep is made of soft air mesh vamp lining with antibacterial and deodorizing material to improve comfort and fit.

The leather used for #3190 is Amber Harness, a pull-up leather that is rich in oil (when pressed, the oil inside the leather moves and changes color). Scratches, wrinkles, and dirt deepen the character of the leather, allowing you to enjoy its natural texture.

The last (wooden form) is called "No. 8" and is one of the oldest lasts currently used by Red Wing.
In 1941, this last was combined with the seamless back upper (a design in which both sides of the foot are wrapped in a single piece of leather with no seams at the heel) developed in 1952 and the cushioned sole used in the "Irish Setter" in 1953, and the first product to feature this design was the #766.
