"Ellis" is a piece inspired by the shirts worn by European immigrants when they came to America in the 19th century.
It is based on antique stand-up collar workwear.
The fabric is 100% cotton indigo discharge print fabric.
The fabric is produced domestically, following the discharge printing techniques used before the 1930s.
The indigo dyeing process is done in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the discharge printing is done in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture.
This time, we eliminated the seams to create a piece that highlights the quality of the fabric.
The placket is wide and rounded, just like a work shirt.
The stitches are also carefully sewn with 50-count thread, which is a key point as it is finished to match the old details.
Although it is a work shirt, it is a "dress work" item that can also be used for a neat style, making it a piece that can be worn in a variety of ways.
